How to feel like you again

Things do settle down

Just the words I wanted to hear when the fabulous Dr Naomi Potter joined us this week for a conversation about HRT.   I love a good old chat about the menopause.  It doesn’t matter how many discussions I have listened to on Let’s All Talk Menopause, I always learn something new and I am always grateful for the moment when I’m reassured that what’s happening is ‘normal’.

This week, I read about the actor Sarah Lancashire.  I loved her performance in (Un)Happy Valley.  That role saw her win the ‘Best Drama Performance’ at the National Television Awards this year.  She has discussed her difficulties with the menopause and revealed how she struggles with brain fog. The articles also says she’s plagued by hot flushes and is considering a change in the type of HRT she uses.    You can read more HERE.

Well it’s exactly those issues that Naomi joined us to discuss.

She looked at how HRT works, the different ways you can take it, how long to give it when you’re looking for results and how often you should have a review.

As we knew she would, Naomi offered lots of sensible advice based on years of experience and up to date knowledge.   You can watch the session here and I would seriously recommend that you do.

“There aren’t necessarily quick fixes and it’s not the end of the world if HRT doesn’t manage your symptoms as you’d like.  It can take time and it can take change’ Dr Naomi Potter

We were so pleased that Naomi spent time with us this week and if you’d like to find out more about her, including the book ‘Menopausing’ which she co-wrote with Davina McCall, you can find the information HERE on her website, Menopause Care.

Next week – Managing your menopause journey: how to find symptom relief and hormone balance
