Find your voice

“Find your voice” - the words of the Labour MP Carolyn Harris, talking at the Women In Work Summit that was held in London on Tuesday 26th September..

It was a fabulous conference discussing how menopause impacts women in the workplace.

Ms Harris said firms that are ‘meno washing’ or ignoring the menopause completely should be challenged.  She told the audience that women should be shaming companies that don’t listen to their concerns.

Now, I can see some women being very concerned about their job security if they were to do that, but there are others ways to encourage change and they were discussed by this week’s guest on ‘Let’s All Talk Menopause’.

“It doesn’t have to be like this”

Dr Claire Kaye is an Executive Career Coach specialising in peri/menopause in the workplace. She is also a former GP, and an award-winning Educationalist.

Claire gave so many tips on how to empower ourselves at work, so that we don’t feel overpowered by our menopausal symptoms.  It is well worth watching her conversation as it’s packed full of advice and useful pointers.

A personal favourite was the creation of a ‘menopause survival kit’.  It can be full of practical items like sanitary ware and pain killers,  but also things that make us feel good like a kind note or a packet of mints….whatever can remind us of who we are.  And to hear all of those tips, you can watch the session again HERE.

Claire has many other free resources and you can find out more by clicking on the links below.
